We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Controller based in our Mactaquac location. This position is currently to cover a maternity leave (12-18 months).

Who you are:

The ideal candidate for the Controller role is an experienced professional well-versed in various accounting functions, including intercompany and cross border transactions, transfer pricing agreements and financial statement reviews/presentation. The candidate should possess the ability to foster a positive workplace through effective communication and innovative problem-solving.

Roles/responsibilities/duties:

  • Oversee all accounting functions and procedures for the Mactaquac Division, under the direction of the Director of Corporate Services .
  • Make sure policies and procedures relating to Admin/Payroll/HR/Accounting functions are being followed.
  • Ensure that all accounting distributions are appropriately made and documented.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, payroll, and bank reconciliation functions.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all invoices.
  • Oversee bank accounts and manage cash flow, for the Mactaquac Division.
  • Provide accurate and comprehensive financial information to the executive team to inform long-term financial strategizing. Financial reporting duties include preparing financial statements, budgets, budget-to-actuals, cashflow projections and job costing.
  • Coordinate with external accountants for income tax preparation and auditors who prepare internal audits of the company, including keeping company records organized and readily available.
  • Monitoring business performance metrics
  • Preparing and distributing consolidated financial statements for 3 divisions.
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance with ASPE and US GAAP.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by thoroughly investigating and resolving any discrepancies or variances in financial documentation and transactions.
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements, reports, and forecasts, providing strategic recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Collaborate closely with department heads to develop, monitor, and manage budgets, offering financial guidance and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma specializing in Accounting.
  • Experience in overseeing full cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  • In-depth understanding of financial principles, practices, regulations, and unionized reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
  • Familiarity with relevant accounting software and ERP systems.
