McDonough expands machining capacity at Canadian location with addition of long bed, 4 axis, live-tooling lathe
McDonough Canada recently purchased a Doosan Puma 3100 XLY lathe; a 4 axis model with the ability to turn parts up to 83” between centers. Also equipped with live tooling and a servo Y-axis this lathe will greatly enhance our ability to manufacture turned parts with milled features, tapped holes, angular faces and either square or diamond cut knurling.
In particular this machine will be purposed towards the high quality, efficient production of the following critical parts for our customers.
- Knurled rolls
- Board edger and gang arbors
- Saw collars
- Table rolls
This purchase was a recommended action presented to management by the employees in the McDonough Canada shop as the result of a recent improvement project led by our Business Excellence team located in Mactaquac. This new lathe will dramatically improve our machining capacity and will help us to drive parts to the assembly floor much faster.
