We currently have a career opportunity as a Welder/Fitter with McDonough Canada at our Mactaquac, New Brunswick location.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the production of welded assemblies that meet customer requirements in quality and output in a safe fashion. To meet this requirement Welders must operate various types of Welding equipment and work with numerous types of associated consumables.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with Metal Fabrication required.
  • Previous welding experience.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to use Tape Measure, Vernier and other measuring tools.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently or with supervision.
  • Ability to work closely with other departments (Engineering/Quality).
  • Ability to be Cross-trained and capable of working in areas within the shop.

Essential Functions:

  • Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required.
  • Fit metal components as per prints provided, ensuring all tolerances are met.
  • Welding of all and any metal assemblies within provided Weld Specifications.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in the allotted time provided.
  • Inspection of all welds to ensure conformance to specifications as well as removal of all Spatter.
  • Assure that 1st off/1 st Part is inspected and meets Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Assemble parts according to provided drawings and specifications.
  • Completion of data entry and/or paperwork as required.
  • Basic maintenance of Welding and Set-up equipment, in addition to ensuring gas and wire as required for the following shift.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping standards.
  • Must notify lead hand and/or supervisors of all dysfunctional and/or unsafe equipment or work practices.
  • Supply own tools as required to perform duties.
  • Demonstrate 5S Methodology in your work area.
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Human Resources policies, and the Handbook.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in production environment.
  • Frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Multiple demand, challenging, fast paced, team orientated environment, can be noisy.
  • Frequent to constant job re-assignment based on requirements.
  • 100% Plant Floor.

Effort/Physical Demands:

  • Constant standing, walking, bending and lifting (light to heavy).
  • Warm/Cold temperatures.
  • Communication with Lead Hand, Supervisors and Management.
  • Overtime as required.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures.
  • Must use or wear personal protective equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company.
